You can see Joe Gazin weekday evenings on 3 NEWS at six and ten with Bill Vessey and Dan McReynolds. Joe was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, living mostly in west L.A. and the San Fernando Valley. Following his graduation from Venice High School, which was the backdrop for the movie Grease, Joe earned his Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from the University of Southern California, where he was a D.J. and talk show host at USC's campus radio station.
Joe's career led him to KABC Radio, the #1 station in Los Angeles, where he was the youngest talk show host ever on that station. Joe then moved to Wisconsin to pursue his television broadcast career, which eventually led him to Corpus Christi in 1977. "The career opportunity of taking over as the main anchor of the evening newscasts at KIII-TV3 brought me the challenge I wanted." Joe says "but the beautiful lifestyle and friendly people are the main reasons why we made the coastal bend our home."
"There've been so many!" Joe says about his most memorable stories "but the trip to Havana, Cuba in January 2006 would have to rank near the top. It was a first for any local TV station! I went to Havana as a one-man-band shooting video, arranging live coverage; talking with ordinary Cubans and watching history unfold, as executives with The Port of Corpus Christi completed a major new trade agreement."
Joe is also dedicated to family and community. He is involved with Driscoll Children's Hospital, Special Olympics, C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Avance and The Food Bank of Corpus Christi. Joe is a multi-time Best Of The Best winner saying that he "is very proud and flattered by this designation." In his spare time, Joe enjoys golfing, biking, walking and spending time with his wife Amy and his 4 children. Click here to send him an email.
