"I've been in the news business for over a decade and every day I thank God for putting me where I am."
Katia Uriarte started in news in 2000. A graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, Katia started as a producer for the Fox affiliate in Biloxi, Ms. She quickly moved up to a reporter and even filled in for the chief meteorologist (before YouTube was around!).
After a short time in Biloxi, Katia moved to Jackson, Ms., where she worked as a producer and reporter. Wanting to fulfill her dream of being a news anchor, Katia auditioned for an anchor spot at Kiii-TV in 2004 and was hired -- and as they say, the rest is history.
Most of Katia's time outside of work is spent balancing work and home like so many working moms do. She is the proud mom of little Daniel, who is getting bigger every day. It's a full household at the Uriarte home, with a family dog named Marley and two cats, all rescue animals.
Even with such a busy schedule, Katia finds time to be involved with several area non-profits and emcees dozens of events a year.
