Man found guilty of murdering Monica Ramos, sentenced to life
Feliciano Cruz was found guilty Friday of felony murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault, injury to a child and tampering with evidence.
Cruz was on trial for the shooting death of Monica Ramos in July of last year.
Assistant District Attorney Reynaldo Peña was the prosecutor, and Cruz was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
In opening statements Tuesday, Prosecutor Ray Pena told jurors that Cruz was under the influence and was being driven around by Ramos when an argument broke out between him and his daughter. His daughter got out of the car and was pistol whipped by Cruz.
"And then the next thing she heard was a shot go off," Pena said. "She hears a shot, and then two or three seconds later, not immediately, she hears, one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand. Another shot."
