Police Cadets Assist in Habitat for Humanity Project
Future Corpus Christi Police Department officers hit the streets on Tuesday to help out a local grandmother, trading their usual tools for some elbow grease.
Cadets in the 71st Police Academy helped build a Habitat for Humanity home going up on the 1000 block of Tenth Street. They said it was a life changing experience.
"It gives us a sense of pride, that we are giving back to the community," Cadet Alyssa Hernandez said. "It's a good exercise. I'll definitely do it again."
The supervisor of the Habit project said that, with the cadets' help, their work is ahead of schedule, making the American dream of owning a home very close for a grandmother and her grandchild.
