CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - It was a "who's who" of local and statewide baseball and softball athletes and coaches on hand Wednesday at the South Texas Winter Baseball and Softball Banquet.

Former Texas Longhorn softball standout and Olympic gold and silver medalist Cat Osterman was the guest speaker. Osterman is set to be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame next month along with the likes of Drew Brees, Shaquille O'Neill and Ricky Williams.

Now former Astros radio broadcaster Milo Hamilton was honored with a lifetime achievement award. Hamilton retired following the Astros' 2011-2012 season, but continues to do appearances for the team. 3Sports will catch up with Milo Thursday during the Astros' caravan stops here in town.

Local high school baseball coaches Lee Yeager of Carroll and Steve Castillo of John Paul II were honored as the Large and Small School Coaches of the Year respectively after both lead their teams to the state semifinals.

Hooks manager Keith Bodie was also on hand to discuss the Hooks' chances in 2013. Bodie says with the returning players from last year's playoff team and the influx of young talent like George Springer and possibly Delino Deshields, Jr., Corpus Christi fans should be in for a treat again this season.

Former Calallen Wildcat Logan Verrett was honored as the South Texas Pro Player of the Year. Verrett pitched for the Mets' Class-A affiliate the Savannah Sand Gnats this past season.
