Thursday was training day for some Corpus Christi Police Department officers in the bike patrol division.
Training was held in the parking lot of Whataburger field, where officers worked off some of the 80 mandatory hours of training they are required to complete each year. Thursday's training consisted of slow-ride exercises.
"What we're really trying to obtain here is, try to get the guys to learn and master the clutch, the throttle and the feathering of the rear brake," CCPD's Tommy Cabello said. "To try to make sure that they keep from dropping the motorcycle, which can cause injury to themselves or cause any sort of cosmetic damage."
The hope is that the training will make them less likely to be injured on the job.
