Councilman Chad Magill has added his name to the list of candidates running for City Council in the upcoming November elections.

Magill made the announcement Tuesday at City Hall in front of a crowd of peers and supporters. He currently holds the District 2 City Council seat, but said he has decided to change seats and run for an At-Large position in order to help more people in the community.

"The most important thing we can do is take bigger responsibility for our actions, and the whole time that I've been serving District 2, I've been helping people across the city," Magill said. "The one thing I've heard more of from everybody is, 'I wish I could vote for you,' and so when people have said that, I'm answering that request and seeking the At-Large seat."

Following Tuesday's announcement, Carlos Torres with the Firefighters Association endorsed the candidate.

Magill is the first person to throw his name into the ring for an At-Large position.
