The Columbian Ladies of South Texas donated $5,000 to the Food Bank of Corpus Christi on Thursday. That money will be used to distribute food in rural areas.
"Those are the areas that people don't have a grocery store and don't have access to services," said Bea Hanson, executive director of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi. "We're able to bring our mobile pantry and bring them food to stretch their budgets."
With every dollar, the Food Bank can buy seven meals for a family, so they definitely know how to stretch that money.
The Columbian Ladies of South Texas have made similar donations to five other non-profits across the Coastal Bend, including the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
