A celebration took place this past weekend in honor of the Corpus Christi Art Center's 40th birthday.

Local artists went by to sale some of their work. This year, the celebration was different than in years past. They wanted the event to benefit the community, so instead of hosting a gala, they decided to do an Art Jamboree.

The last time the Art Center did something like it was back in the 70s.

"They were so popular. I've been to so many people's homes where the artwork came from the Art Jamboree, and we thought that was something important to bring back," said Dianna Bluntzer, director of the Art Center. "It's a retro celebration."

The Art Center hopes to continue this tradition for many years to come.
