A man was arrested just after 1 a.m. Saturday when police say he was pulled over for running a stop sign and it turned out he was in a stolen vehicle.

According to police, an officer was patrolling the area of Agnes and Virginia when they observed a green truck run the stop sign going northbound. The officer stopped the driver, 36-year-old Carlos Lopez, Jr., and said he appeared very nervous and was sweating and stuttering.

Police said Lopez had no ID and the license plate on the pickup came back as a green Honda. After running the VIN, the officer discovered that the vehicle had been stolen March 17.

Lopez was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and transported to the City Detention Center.
