A man was arrested Monday morning after police say he broke into a home in the 800 block of Furman while the homeowner and her child were asleep inside.

It was just before 10 a.m. when police were dispatched to the burglary call. When officers arrived they could hear somebody inside the home rummaging through property. Eventually the suspect, 41-year-old Joe C. Galindo, came running out the front door of the home and was stopped and detained by police.

When backup arrived, officers cleared the house, locating the 25-year-old famale victim and her six-month-old baby hiding in the bathroom.

The victim told police that she was asleep when she heard someone trying to open her bedroom door. That's when she grabbed her baby, hid in the bathroom and called police. She told officers she had heard a person enter her rear window and start going through her property.

Officers confimed that the screen to the rear window had been removed.

Officers arrested Galindo. During a search of the suspect, they located jewelry in his pocket that belonged to the victim.
