Corpus Christi police were dispatched Wednesday afternoon to the 3500 block of SPID for an attempted robbery that took place at a restaurant.

Officers arrived and contacted employees who said a male suspect entered the kitchen area with his face covered with the lower half of his grey shirt. The suspect demanded money from one of the employees.

The employees stated the the suspect became verbally aggressive before another employee realized the suspect was trying to rob them and began to push the suspect out the back door. The suspect began to fight back, and as they were fighting one employee got behind the suspect and pulled him outside, shutting the door behind him.

The owner of the restaurant was in the parking lot during the incident. He observed the suspect get into a maroon Ford van and drive away. The owner followed the suspect and got a license plate before he lost him.

Police ran the license plate number and went to the 4800 block of Mokry to an address associated with the car. The suspect, 50-year-old Frank Sanchez, arrived a short time later and was taken into custody.
