Police in Port Aransas are asking for your help tracking down the person responsible for setting fire to a residence under construction last week.
It was around 4 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, when an alleged "fire bug" set fire to a residence in the 200 block of Piper Boulevard. The crime has police baffled.
"Right now we don't have a whole lot of leads in this case," said Sgt. Mike Hannon of the Port Aransas Police Department. "We are hoping that someone in the marina saw something that happened and just hasn't come forward, or that there's someone out there that knows something."
3News obtained exclusive surveillance video of the suspect. You can see a flash of fire and then moments later, the suspect calmly walks away from the blaze.
Port Aransas police said they believe this to be an isolated incident and to call them with any information that might help lead them to a suspect. The owner of the structure is offering a $2,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest.
