Corpus Christi police issued an arrest warrant Monday for a woman who they say murdered the father of her children.

The warrant was issued for 43-year-old Pamela Duhart in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Nov. 9 in the 7000 block of Copper Mountain Drive.

Duhart's attorney, however, released a statement around noon Tuesday saying that Duhart was protecting her home and herself from burglars, including 44-year-old Frederic Ramsey, the father of several of her children.

According to police, Duhart shot and killed Ramsey after an argument broke out when he and two others arrived at the residence. After the shooting, the three men got into a car and crashed into a nearby home.

Ramsey was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The other two men who were with him, his brother Frederson Ramsey and friend Ronald Richards, were arrested and charged with burglary.

3News spoke with Ramsey's family and relatives said they suspected Duhart all along.

One of Duhart's children told 3News that it was her mother who pulled the trigger and that she belongs behind bars.

"She stole my brother's heart," said the victim's sister Sophia Ramsey. "It was not his time."

"How would she feel if someone took her parents from her?" the victim's daughter Fatima Ramsey said. "How would she feel if someone took her dad from her? It's not right."

Fatima said her mom lured her dad to the home on Copper Mountain Drive to pick up their kids, and that's when the shooting happened.

According to the statement released Tuesday by Attorney Mark Di Carlo, Duhart's home was being burglarized by the three men, and in the past he said Frederick Ramsey repeatedly burglarized her home, even assaulting Duhart back in December of 2016.

Di Carlo's statement said Duhart has a good record and she was surprised police were looking for her. She "expects full vindication of any criminal charges."

The statement also said Duhart would be turning herself in to authorities Tuesday and plans to seek a reduction in her $500,000 bond.
