The Live Oak County Sheriff's Department has charged two suspects with the capital murder of a couple back in December of 2015. The couple had gone missing and their bodies were found badly burned in a vehicle.
55-year-old Bill Hammit and 56-year-old Sandra Garcia were found in a brush truck outside of the Camco store in Live Oak County the morning of Dec. 23, 2015. The couple ran the business and lived at that location and were reported missing earlier that morning. During their search they located the burned truck with the couple's remains inside.
Investigators at the time of the murder believed that about $10,000-$20,000 could have been taken from the couple's business, and that they were robbed, shot and then burned.
According to authorities, soon after the murder police suspected 27-year-old Aniseto Alejandro, but they had been awaiting DNA test results to come back before charging. However, since he was incarcerated on unrelated charges and due to be released at the end of March, authorities went ahead and charged him with capital murder Tuesday.
On Wednesday, authorities arrested 25-year-old Desiree Trevino in Medina County and took her to be processed in Live Oak County. She was also charged with capital murder in connection to the crime.
Both suspects are being held $2 million bonds. Authorities are still awaiting DNA lab results to come back regarding the case.
