Occurred Saturday, August 4, 2012, 23:41, Agnes Street at State Highway 286, Intoxication Assault

A 28-year-old woman was arrested Saturday night after she ran a red light and crashed into a vehicle and caused two men to be injured at the intersection of Agnes Street and the Access Road of State Highway 286.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a white 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix perform an unsafe turn on Agnes Street at 11:40 pm Saturday night. The police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the Pontiac sped away and refused to stop. The Pontiac traveled at a high rate of speed and caused a near collision with an uninvolved vehicle. The only violation was a traffic stop, so the vehicle pursuit was canceled because the risk of injury to an innocent person outweighed the reward of capturing the violator.

The police officer turned off his emergency equipment and slowed to the speed limit. The police officer saw the Pontiac travel through the red light at the intersection of Agnes and the State Highway 286 access road then strike a black 1999 Ford F1-50 which caused the truck to roll.

Two 18-year-old men were in the truck and were both transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The operator of the Pontiac, 28-year-old Kimberly Balboa displayed indications that she was intoxicated. Balboa was arrested for Intoxication Assault and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle. Balboa was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation and a blood specimen was obtained. Balboa was then delivered to the city detention center.
