A family of two is dealing with the aftermath of a fire that cause significant damage to their apartment in the 3300 block of Up River Road Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 2:45 p.m. When fire crews arrived on scene, they found smoke and fire bellowing from the window of an upstairs apartment. It took crews about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time. The room where the fire began suffered from smoke and fire damage.

The American Red Cross has stepped in to help the family. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
