For the 60th year in a row, Corpus Christi firefighters jumped into action Friday in hopes of improving the lives of sick children.
It was all part of the Fill the Boot campaign, where firefighters ask drivers for monetary donations that go from straight from their boot to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Last year, firefighters across the nation raised over $26 million, and here locally, firefighters raised over $104,000.
"We are doing it this Friday, the 14th, next Friday the 21st and then on the 28th," said Carlos Torres, president of the Corpus Christi Firefighters Association. "That way we cover all of our shifts, and then all the citizens and visitors that are here, not just for Spring Break, can contribute to this very worthy cause."
Torres said that if you didn't get a chance to fill the boot on Friday, you can make a donation at any one of the fire stations in Corpus Christi.
