Corpus Christi (Kiii Sports) - Friday Night Sports Blitz- Part III

San Diego hosted Mathis in what preseason prognosticators had tagged as a showdown for the District 16-2A Division I Championship. It was the Vaqueros' first Blitz appearance of the season- and our first look at one of the state's top runners, Luis Lopez, who went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark in front of the Blitz cameras. It was all San Diego as the Vaqueros mashed Mathis 60-21.

Skidmore-Tynan picked up a huge road win on Friday with a 14-6 victory over Riviera. The win sets the stage for a showdown next week at Banquete.

Aransas Pass moved to 2-0 in district play with a close, 26-21 win over visiting Odem. The Panthers join San Diego as the only two unbeaten teams in District 16-2A-Division I.

Fans were treated to some classic rock standards during the Marching Scoreboard, as our Blitz Band of the Week, Tuloso-Midway, sampled Queen and Metallica.
