Chris Gelinas, a local teen who was known for his brave battle against cancer, lost that fight this week. He was laid to rest on Friday.
Family and friends attended the midday funeral mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Violet Road.
Gelinas' death was the result of a form of skin cancer that his parents say got progressively worse. He was diagnosed with sarcoma, which affects connective tissue cells.
Friends and family reflected on the hard life Gelinas had, but they say he never complained of his illness.
"He loved playing sports," said Danielle Macias, who knew Gelinas. "Very good guy. Friendly, everything."
"He had to face everything so quick and so soon," said Cristian Davila, who also knew Gelinas.
Christopher Gelinas was only 14 years old.
