A teen girl was sent to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital via HALO Flight around noon Thursday after the vehicle she was traveling in crashed into a power pole at Highway 77 and FM 2826, near Robstown.

According to police, the driver of a white four-door sedan overcorrected while traveling southbound on Highway 77 and swerved across lanes, crashing into the pole. The pole was split in half, with power lines still connected.

The driver suffered minor injuries, and the teen passenger was transported via HALO Flight to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

American Electric Power Texas responded to the scene to determine how best to repair the power pole with lines still connected. Emergency crews are waiting for AEP to determine the best course of action before removing the vehicle from the scene.
