One of the most important tools in the battle against breast cancer is easy access to mammograms and early detection, and Christus Spohn Health System is giving you the chance to be a part of the chain connecting women with that powerful tool.
It's called the First Friday's Pink Links initiative. By making a $5 donation you can help support free mammogram screenings for women in South Texas who might not be able to afford the exam. First Friday is a grassroots organization that worked to raise awareness of the importance of early detection for the past 22 years.
According to the director of marketing for Christus Spohn Health System, every dollar raised here will stay in the Coastal Bend, providing qualifying residents with a free mammogram screening.
So how do contribute? The "Pink Links" are being sold for $5 through October at gift shops in Christus Spohn hospitals, and they can also be purchased online at www.ffpinklinks.com.
Three kinds are available for purchase: for those fighting breast cancer, in support of those who fight breast cancer and in memory of loved ones. Along with the message printed on each Pink Link, there is a space to write a name.
