Friday was day one of the three-day Jehovah's Witness Conference at the American Bank Center.

The theme this year is "safeguard your heart," and the convention will highlight biblical references based on the heart. The goal of the event is to get attendees to use their heart to make wise decisions, improve their family life, strengthen their faith and find true happiness.

"It's just a delightful event," said Joe Doctor III of the Jehovah's Witness Convention. "This is the spiritual highlight of the year for us. We look forward to the next two days."

More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the event, which is free and open to the public. New this year is a play focused on the topic, "What is true love?". It will take place at 1:40 p.m. Sunday.

The event continues from 9:20 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the American Bank Center.
