A traffic stop by a Jim Wells County deputy on Highway 281 Saturday led to a find of more than 10 kg of cocaine with a street value of $250,000.

Deputy Latham Roldan conducted the stop and noticed the driver of the Dodge Caravan, identified at Mario Sebastian Garcia, appeared nervous. After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, Roldan found a bundle of U.S. Currency in the rear side panel of the vehicle.

The vehicle was then taken to the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department, and with the assistance of several deputies, a compartment was located containing the drugs.

A total of $11,903 was seized along with the vehicle. Garcia was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a criminal instrument and money laundering.

An investigation is still ongoing.
