Mayor Nelda Martinez, Police Chief Floyd Simpson and Judge Brent Chesney were among the dignitaries at King High School Wednesday morning to kick off Red Ribbon Week.

Several police officers were on hand wearing red ribbons, all in a show of solidarity for Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country.

Red Ribbon Week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs.

The special week runs until next Tuesday.
