The rally outside of the Starbuck's at the corner of SPID and Staples on Saturday afternoon, was all part of a nationwide action to protest against what is referred to as a superpac. It was back on January 21, 2010 when five judges on the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that corporations can spend as much money as they want to promote or defeat political candidates. This allowed for the creation of superpacs, which can accept unlimited contributions from anonymous donors, foreign or domestic. This funeral for democracy rally Saturday, was just one of many nationwide to protest that decision.
