The victims were identified as 14-year-old Marley McElroy of Amarillo, Texas, and 20-year-old Arlen McFall of New Braunfels, Texas.

The two were rushed to Bay Area Hospital Friday evening after receiving CPR on the beach.

The first incident was reported at Packery Channel, just a way down the beach from Bob Hall Pier. The Corpus Christi Fire Department said the 14-year-old girl was reportedly in the water for about 10 minutes. Lifeguards spotted her and dragged her out of the water before EMS crews arrived and began CPR.

Minutes later, authorities received reports of the 20-year-old male falling from Bob Hall Pier. Witnesses who saw the man being pulled from the water and treated said he appeared to have a fishing pole and line wrapped around his limbs, making it hard for him to maneuver.

Both incidents are still being investigated.
