A fundraiser was held Wednesday in San Patricio County for the nonprofit HALO Flight, which provides emergency flight assistance in a 28,000 square mile area.
HALO Flight has been servicing Texas for many years, but the flights can get expensive. Just one could cost in the thousands.
That is why the ninth annual Una Caja Dove Shoot was held in San Patricio Wednesday. Teams were provided with a single box of 410 shotgun shells. The entry fee for each team was $2,000, and the funds will go directly to HALO Flight.
A flight nurse for HALO Flight told 3News they have transported thousands of patients over the years -- patients suffering from anything from heart attacks to strokes. They have even helped deliver babies. All of that costs thousands of dollars, but the patient may never even pay a dime.
