CCPD quickly put out an alert, which was spread through social media.

Thankfully, the baby was found safe inside the stolen vehicle, which had been abandoned outside a tattoo parlor in the 9900 block of SPID.

On Friday, police confirmed that there is an active case by Child Protective Services and that the child was removed from its home. They also said the child's mother is still expected to face charges of abandoning and endangering a child with intent to return.

There is no word as to when the mother will be arrested.

In the meantime, police said they are still investigating the case and the suspect in the auto theft is still at large.
