Calallen football team will forfeit wins vs. Carroll and King after using an ineligible player. The 30-5A District Executive Committee voted 6-4 against a retroactive eligibility waiver.

The player in question played a total of four extra points in 21 and 41 point wins against the Mustangs and Tigers respectively. Coach Phil Danaher says the player had transferred in and out of the Calallen system before when he was younger along with his older brother, and it his brother's paperwork was that on file and mistaken as his own. Calallen self-reported the violation to the DEC.

Calallen's official record is now 2-3, but both games were non-zone, so it won't affect the Wildcats' playoff chances, but it does take wins away from Coach Danaher in his pursuit for state record.

With the forfeits, Danaher would be seven wins away from breaking GA Moore's record for all-time wins in Texas. It's up to the official record-keeper to decide whether to keep the victories on Danaher's official record or take them off.

The earliest Danaher could break the record is in the area round of the playoffs if if Calallen wins out in the regular season.

Usually the CCISD schools stick together on these type of votes, but oddly enough Veterans Memorial voted in favor of Calallen while the others did not. The only non-CCISD school to vote against the 'Cats was Alice.
