Election day is just one month away and Coastal Bend voters have been tasked with deciding a "yay" or "nay" for a proposed Corpus Christi Independent School Board bond.
Tuesday is the final day people can register to vote and the CCISD is encouraging locals to cast their ballot in the upcoming general elections as a new $194 million dollar bond proposal has many changes ahead for students across the district.
The bond will include the expansion of two elementary schools on the South side along with two brand new middle schools. Superintendent Roland Hernandez says the bond would allow for schools to be more modernized and prevent over crowding.
"This is a big district, we serve 39,000 students. This is the package we are coming for, for 2016 but we continue to assess our facilities and then decide what we need to do as we go through from year to year" says Hernandez.
Voting on the bond will take place November 8th, the same day as the general election. You can register to vote with the Nueces county clerk or you can download an application at http://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/. The application must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 11th.
