CCPD officer testifies in trial of former District Judge Guy Williams

Williams' defense team cross examined Wednesday morning the first Corpus Christi police officer to arrive at the scene of the incident.

The trial of former 148th District Judge Guy Williams continued Wednesday at the Nueces County Courthouse. He faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Williams' defense team cross examined Wednesday morning the first Corpus Christi police officer to arrive at the scene of the incident. The officer said he interviewed the alleged victims, Brook and Sarah Stewart, together -- something not usually done during an investigation.

"In a perfect world I would, they would separate everybody and be able to get everyone's statements one-on-one," the officer said.

Both alleged victims testified before jurors during the trial Tuesday. They say Williams threatened them with a weapon during a road rage incident in April of last year.

In November, Williams was indicted in the case and was removed from the bench of the 148th District Court. If found guilty of the two second-degree aggravated assault charges, he could face up to 20 years in prison, but could also get probation.

The trial continues Thursday.
