Three months after Hurricane Harvey hit Rockport, City employees are trying to bring the Christmas spirit to town.

They got started Monday by hanging up decorations along Austin Street and a number of other roadways.

Since the hurricane, the only area in town that is able to be decorated with Christmas lights is the downtown area -- the storm damaged too many street poles around the rest of town for lights to be put up.

"Business has been picking up," said 91-year-old Dovie Howard, owner of the 4 the Birds and the Salt Flats Gallery. "People are coming in from out of town to support us, and I think we're going to have a good Christmas."

Howard who the two downtown businesses, both along Austin Street, and said that Rockport is going to make a comeback and will be good again.
