The City of Corpus Christi is warning residents Tuesday that it's crucial now more than ever to inspect your meter and other City utility equipment.

Two of the four city storage tanks are ready to go online, and the upgrades increase the average water pressure across the city by 20 psi. The two storage tanks are located at Holly Road and on Rand Morgan.

The City is giving away leak detection tablets that can be placed in a toilet tank, and if the water in the bowl turns blue, you might have a leak.

"Another good tool is your meter. What you can do is shut off your water to your water system at your home, and then check your meter to see if the numbers have changed after doing that, after you wait a period of time," said Gabe Ramirez, assistant director of the Water Department. "And if the numbers change, then there's a leak."

The new water towers will help with water quality by increasing the speed of water flow.
