A South Texas doctor's license has been temporarily suspended after an investigation found he prescribed more than 4,000 opioid prescriptions over the course of one-year.

The Texas Medical Board has suspended psychiatrist Jason Evans.

According to the Caller Times, Evans practices in both Harlingen and here in Corpus Christi although most of his prescriptions were being filled through a pharmacy in Houston.

Investigators say from August 2016 to August 2017 Evans prescribed 4,906 opioid prescriptions among many others.
