Corpus Christi police say a man found dead early Tuesday morning may have died from the freezing weather conditions, though an official cause of death is pending a toxicology report.

The man, identified as 54-year-old Richard McEvoy, was found around 7:45 a.m. on the ground dead at Tancahua and Hancock. Police said he was wheelchair bound and may have fallen out of the chair and couldn't get back up. Their initial investigation led them to believe McEvoy died from the elements.

According to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office, an autopsy has not been completed and blood results must be sent to Indiana or Pittsburgh for analysis before a cause of death can be confirmed.

"You've got to look at all the angles," said Hugo Stimler, Nueces County Medical Examiner.
