Corpus Christi City Council declared this week as National League of United Latin American Citizens week.

"Discrimination is still present. Discrimination is subtle, it's implicit, but it's still there. It exists," Nick Adame said. "And as long as it exists people come to us with their concerns and so as an organization we're always there in the forefront trying to help these individuals trying to right what has been done wrong"

With LULAC being founded in Corpus Christi in 1929 along with being the home of the G.I forum Adame feels the City is the birthplace of Hispanic civil right.
