A Corpus Christi man and his daughter are recovering from injuries they sustained when their small plane crashed over the weekend in Taylor, Texas, about 35 northeast of Austin.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. 41-year-old Todd Hornbuckle and his seven-year-old daughter Madelynn had flown out of Corpus Christi and were heading to Taylor. Todd suffered severe burns to 50-percent of his body and is listed in stable condition, Madelynn had minor injuries.
According to the family, Hornbuckle took Madelynn into his arms to shield her from the flames as best as he could.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are still investigating the cause of the crash.
