Del Mar College's Center for Economic Development will host the 19th annual Geographic Information System Day on Wednesday.
The event will allow individuals to experience hands-on computer-based mapping tools that can be used in the workforce. GIS is used to solve problems using features on maps, which allows for a better understanding of specific locations.
Organizers said the event could also help map out careers.
"Really get an idea of what's happening around you in everyday life and find out that this technology is around and you're utilizing it, whether you know it or not," GISC Instructor J.J. Nelson said.
Doors open at 9 a.m. Wednesday and the event is free and open to the public.
