Four cancer patients from Driscoll Children's Hospital who are currently in remission departed Monday on a special Mardi Gras Fun-Time Fantasy trip courtesy of the Sunshine Kids Foundation.

Pedro, Anna, Mary, and Arron were each handpicked by their doctors who declared them well enough to enjoy the trip. The trip includes an entire week of activities in the greater New Orleans area. The goal is to provide kids with cancer a chance to enjoy group activities with their peers and celebrate life.

The Sunshine Kids Foundation has been a labor of love from the realtors at Berkshire Hathaway. The trip is carefully planned. From the moment they land, the children will get an opportunity to focus on doing one thing -- having fun.

The four patients will return from their trip Sunday.

One nurse from Driscoll Children's Hospital will be traveling with the kids. She played rock-paper-scissors against two other nurses vying for the opportunity to take the children -- she won with "rock."
