CHAPTER 1

Two homeowners are without a home after a fire broke out in their garage.

The fire started around 7:00 pm Thursday night in the 4600 block of French Drive near Adkins Drive close to the Gollihar Road and Caramel Parkway intersection.

According to fire investigators, the fire started in the garage and quickly spread. Fire crews received word that several pets were inside the home when blaze broke out.

As crews arrived, smoke billowed into Lincoln Park, attracting many on-lookers and concerned neighbors..

Battalion Chief Michael Gilley, with the Corpus Christi fire department says," It was a lot of heavy fire, crews were met with that. It was a pretty tough fire fight."

When firefighters got control of the fire, they searched the home and rescued two pets, a Chihuahua and a Golden Retriever. Sadly, one dog died as a result of the blaze.

Fire investigators also report one of the homeowners was burned on the shoulder and a firefighter suffered smoke inhalation.

Both were treated at the scene.

Friday morning, 3 News was with the homeowner who says she lost three dogs to the fire. The home is considered a total loss.
