Members of the First Baptist Church in Rockport are still recovery following Hurricane Harvey.
Winds from the category four storm tore off the roof and shattered glass windows exposing the building to water damage.
Officials with the church said dozens of volunteers from different religious organizations are living out of rooms at the church as they work to rebuild.
The church has become the center for people to register to volunteer.
"As a church staff we have taught numerous times about how we feel like God must have felt like we were ready to be in the place that we were in and that our church was built to handle what was coming," said Executive Pastor Jeff Lanningham.
As recovery efforts continue, the church has been holding service under tents.
Pastor Lanningham hopes to have the building complete and ready for worship by October.
