The first case of West Nile Virus for this year has been confirmed.
The San Patricio County Health Department confirmed Wednesday that the patient affected by the West Nile Virus is a 75-year-old female resident of San Patricio County.
Doctors said she is suffering neurological symptoms.
The County is currently working on contacting residents to inform them of what precautions they need to take.
Only one out of 150 of those infected with West Nile develop a neurological manifestation.
Dr. James Mobley, The Medical Director of San Patricio County, said if it's in San Patricio County that means it's in the Coastal Bend.
He said it's important that everyone takes special precautions this 4th of July weekend.
Use a repellent with 50-percent deet and eliminate all standing water.
