Ground was broken Friday for the construction of Habitat for Humanity's latest project in the 2700 block of Guadalupe Street.

As tradition with Habitat for Humanity, the ground where the house will be built was blessed and a bible was placed under the soil. The home will be the first of 10 new homes going up courtesy of the program, which helps low-income families become homeowners.

Right now the organization is looking for families to take part.

The Housing Opportunity Council, City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County Community Action Agency were also instrumental in getting the project off the ground.
