The fate of 24-year-old Heriberto Saenz was placed in the hands of a jury Monday. Deliberations began in the morning and were wrapped up by around 1 p.m.

Saenz was sentenced to 65 years in prison for murder, along with three 10-year sentences for counts of aggravated assault that will be served concurrently.

Saenz was found guilty in a retrial of killing 17-year-old Clarryssa Silguero in a drive-by shooting back in 2009. His guilty verdict was overturned back in April as appellate judges overturned the case ruling that Saenz' lawyer did not effectively challenge witness testimony that identified him as taking part in the drive-by shooting.

The retrial wrapped up Tuesday, Nov. 22, with a second guilty verdict.
