Health officials are reporting the first Zika case transmitted to a human here in South Texas. The female patient reportedly contracted the virus in Brownsville which is only about two-and-a-half hours away from here.

While health experts don't believe the virus will become wide spread in the State, they are warning residents, especially in places like the Coastal Bend where our winters are warmer, to take precautions.
