A man allegedly started a disturbance with his family members that led to a 5 hour standoff with police.
Corpus Christi police were called to the 2000 block of Treyway Lane around 9:30 am Saturday morning after family members told police their father was doing drugs when he threaten to shoot them.
The family members were able to get out of the home before police arrived. Police say the suspect shut the door and turned off his cell phone.
After SWAT commanders were informed of the situation, they activated the SWAT team as police closed down intersections surrounding the home.
Police used a recorded message from the suspect's mother to get the suspect to leave the home as hostage negotiators tried to contact the suspect.
After a couple of hours, SWAT Captain David Cook with the Corpus Christi police department, ordered the house to be gassed, with SWAT team members entering the home after it was saturated.
Police say the suspect was hiding in the attic. He was detained and brought outside as investigators searched for evidence inside the home.
The suspect received medical treatment and was later transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital. Police say he will be cleared and then taken into custody and transported to jail. Police say he faces a felony count of family violence.
