Meet the artist behind H-E-B's Earth Day bag

Rebecca Borrelli describes her work as 'whimsical' and 'fun'

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) — As a way to celebrate Earth Day, H-E-B partnered with an Austin-based artist for a reusable bag.

Throughout Sunday, H-E-B's gave away the bags with every purchase. Additionally, various locations had activity centers for children to celebrate the Earth and learn about conservation.

Behind the bag is artist Rebecca Borrelli, an Austinite who has a knack for whimsical art. She was first chosen to design the 2017 Earth Day bag in 2016. The artist said she was thrilled when they asked her to design the 2018 bag.

Borrelli described her thought process behind the bag; she wanted to represent conservation through her eccentric artistry. She also designs coloring books and other pieces of art in her home studio.

More of Borrelli's work can be found on her Instagram at @beccaborelliatx.
