Michael Cloud announced September that he would seek Representative Blake Farenthold's position in Congress and that he will fight the "culture of corruption" in Washingon D.C.
42-year-old Cloud is from the Victoria area and runs a media production company in the city. Cloud is a member of the State Republican Executive Committee and is one of five Republican challengers for Farenthold's job.
Farenthold will face Republicans in the March 6 primary next year, and the candidates have come out to try and unseat Farenthold after news that he used taxpayers dollars to legally pay a settlement on a sexual harassment claim by a former staff member in 2015.
Cloud is one of the candidates calling on the need for voters to elect people of integrity to restore public confidence in government.
"What I see is that we have a government that is not really serving we the people," Cloud said. "I got into this race because I feel we need people who will go there and have the courage to stand up to a culture of corruption."
Cloud believes that President Trump tapped into the feelings of discontent people feel toward Washington D.C.
