A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital in serious condition overnight after police say he collided with a vehicle on SPID.

It happened around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the vehicle from behind. The man on the bike was taken to a nearby hospital with severe head trauma.

Officers said the man, who appears to be in his 60s, was not wearing a helmet.

The highway was closed for more than an hour as investigators worked to clear the scene. No charges have been filed against the driver and police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
